AI Human Integration starting in 2020

Also, a quick look back at CES and what’s to come.

Most posts and articles regarding CES (Consumer Electronics Show) had a negative headline. Ranging from a “Scary Rollercoaster” …

to Black Mirror in real life.

This hypocrisy of the media brings back the same old saying: “negative headlines get more reactions than positive ones.” But let’s dive in, some pretty insane products coming out soon that may make you weary. Just about all the products at CES had a similar tag line: Innovation. Yet, are we moving too fast? Or too slow? Do we have clear regulations of what is allowed and what is not? There is an understanding now: Tech isn't slowing down and A.I. is at the forefront. Are we going to be at the finish line or get left behind?

I can see why you may be worried. I mean, integrating with AI? This is a huge leap. As we move into this new territory, let’s take a look at what’s been happing in the tech sector. Going back to when we were glued to our seats watching the Facebook hearings, we see that not even big tech is above the law. However, what happens when tech companies back political candidates? This is what is happening with former Oculus CEO Palmer Lucky. When Luckey sold Oculus to Facebook before being let go, he had a much broader plan in mind. Luckey started devoting his time to his own defense company that manufactured defense drones capable of feats the military couldn't reach. Take “The Interceptor” as an example, basically a drone that rams into other drones completely dismembering them in the process.

Further reading: Lucky has donated thousands to the Trump Campaign and believes he will be a massive player in defense contracting for the government.

First tests on humans by end of 2020

We’re headed in an interesting direction now, where nothing is off-limits. This includes AI. Elon Musk has consistently made the claim: “Over time I think we will probably see a closer merger of biological intelligence and digital intelligence.” Well, the time is coming.

The first tests on humans will begin this year. The project is backed by Neuralink, where they’ve stated previously their goal is to simply “understand and treat different forms of brain or spine-related disorders” For instance, paralyzed humans could use the implanted device to control phones or computers.” Musk envisions an alternative use, by utilizing the implant as a means of enhancing our own brain, giving humans the option to achieve a symbiosis with artificial intelligence (AI).

Some questions to ask yourself:

1.What will happen when we reach superhuman intelligence?

2. Is it a problem if AI can predict what we’re going to do?

3. Do we need data police?

4. Should we be making AI that behaves like humans?

I want to leave you with a quote from Mark Manson.

“With the imminent emergence of machines that are going to put you, me, and everyone we know out of work, we are acting like the shitty parents. As a species, we are on the verge of birthing the most prodigiously advanced and intelligent child within our known universe. It will go on to do things that we cannot comprehend or understand. It may remain loving and loyal to us. It may bring us along and integrate us into its adventures. Or it may decide that we were shitty parents and stop calling us back.

Whatever happens, that shouldn’t change how we feel about this moment. It’s bigger than us. Who cares if we are one big, long evolutionary boot disk for something greater than we can comprehend? That’s great! It means we had one job. And we came and fucking did it. Be happy you were part of the generation that saw it get done. And now tearfully wave goodbye as our kid gets ready to move out of the house and start a life so amazing that it exists beyond the horizon of our comprehension.”
